Getting Started

Do I need to be a good writer to use Memoracy?

Not at all. Memoracy isn't about writing — it's about remembering. The prompts do the hard work of figuring out what to say. You just answer the question the way you'd tell a story to a friend. Short, long, polished, or rough — it all belongs here.

How does the daily prompt work?

Every day, a new question is posted across one of eight life categories: Childhood Memories, Family Connections, Cultural Heritage, Life Milestones, Friendship, Life Lessons, Community, and Travel & Adventure. You use a story credit to answer it and your response is saved to your personal timeline.

What are story credits?

Credits are how you unlock answers. You start with 3 free credits when you sign up, and earn 1 new credit every day. Think of it as a gentle nudge to come back daily — the same way a good habit works best when it's consistent.

Can I answer old prompts, or only today's?

You can browse and answer recent prompts too — you're not locked to just today's question. If a past prompt hits closer to home, use your credit on that one instead.

Is it really free?

Yes. Creating an account, earning daily credits, writing stories, and sharing them with family are all free. We'll introduce optional premium features in the future, but the core experience — building your story archive and sharing it with the people you love — will always be free.

Your Stories

Who can see what I write?

You control the visibility of every single story, individually. Each answer can be: Public — visible to the Memoracy community Family — visible only to people you've invited to your family circle Private — visible only to you You can mix and match. Your most personal answers stay between you and your family. The ones you want to share with the world can be public. You decide every time.

Can I go back and edit a story after I publish it?

Yes. Your stories are yours — you can edit, update, or delete them at any time.

What happens to my stories if I stop using the site?

Your timeline stays intact. You don't have to use Memoracy every day for your stories to remain accessible to you and your family. We're building this to last.

Are my stories backed up?

Yes. Your stories are securely stored and backed up. Preserving them is literally the whole point — we take that seriously.

Family & Sharing

How does family sharing work?

You can invite family members to Memoracy and connect your timelines. Once connected, they can see any story you've marked as Family visibility — and you can see theirs. Over time, your individual timelines weave together into a shared family record.

What if my family isn't interested in joining?

That's okay. You can still build your own timeline, and share individual stories or your full profile with family members who don't have accounts. Even one person's stories are worth preserving.

Can I share my stories outside of Memoracy?

Yes — public and family stories can be shared via a link. If you want to send a specific memory to someone who isn't on the platform, you can do that too.

The Bigger Picture

Why does Memoracy exist?

Because most people's stories disappear with them. Not because they didn't matter — but because no one ever asked, and no one ever wrote them down. Memoracy is built to fix that, one daily question at a time. You can read more on our About page.

What categories do the prompts cover?

Eight of them: Childhood Memories, Family Connections, Cultural Heritage, Life Milestones, Friendship, Life Lessons, Community, and Travel & Adventure. The questions rotate across categories so your timeline ends up being a genuinely full picture of your life — not just one corner of it.

What are badges?

Badges are small rewards for building the habit. You earn them for things like total stories written, completing stories across multiple categories, and keeping up a daily streak. They're meant to make the process feel rewarding as you go — not just at the end.

Do you use my stories to train AI?

Gross, no. Your stories are yours. We do not use your writing to train AI models or sell your data to anyone. Private and family stories are never visible to us for any purpose beyond keeping the platform running.
